Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds joins the NSO in a world-premiere orchestral collaboration over two unforgettable evenings. His award–winning, multi-faceted career includes the consecutive multi-platinum landmark albums Tender Lover, For the Cool in You (including signature hits “Never Keeping Secrets” and “When Can I See You”), and The Day (“Every Time I Close My Eyes”). The 10 best BBQ joints in the D.C. area

Where’s the smoke?

To me, smoke = barbecue.

In search of DC’s best BBQ joints, I found that too many meats had only the faintest whiff, detectable perhaps to a hound, but not detectable with the sad olfactory skills that come standard with the human species. If you ask 100 adults how to define barbecue, you’ll probably get 100 different answers. But to me, the cuisine’s defining characteristic is the complex aromatic byproduct of burning hardwoods.

With that in mind, here is what we believe to be;

The 10 best barbecue joints

10DCity Smokehouse

Once the preeminent barbecue spot in Washington, DCity slid into mediocrity when pitmaster Sonderman left and the remaining crew had to work from an off-site production kitchen while waiting for a new space. The rejuvenated DCity emerged in January in a handsome, if somewhat uncomfortable, space on Florida Avenue NW. Even better, pitmaster Shawn McWhirter has DCity back on the right track. His spare ribs — oddly cut, so that some flaps of meat are basically smoked into jerky — are a special treat, an unorthodox rack that nonetheless has become a signature item. 203 Florida Ave. NW.

Veteran’s Day Spirits Festival

Falls Church Distillers, the only privately-owned distillery local in Fairfax County, and Decorate a Vet, a Non-Profit dedicated to assisting local Northern Virginia veterans to repair personal veteran dwellings announced they will co-produce the Veteran’s Day Distiller’s Festival, on November 11, 2017, from 1pm – 8pm.

The event, the first of its kind in Northern Virginia (NOVA), will be held on the street in front of Falls Church Distillers at 442 South Washington Street, Falls Church, VA, and will feature commercial vendors, live music and available wares of spirits, wine, beer and food from local participating distillers, vineyards and restaurants. The majority of all proceeds will benefit the Decorate a Vet organization.

The Light Horse Restaurant

The Light Horse

The Light Horse is located in the center of Old Town Alexandria right on historic King Street. They are halfway between the waterfront and the King Street Metro stop. The Old Town Trolley stop is right in front of their doors!

The upstairs bar features a more boisterous scene that serves as equal parts neighborhood gathering place, sports bar, and late night destination. The downstairs restaurant is currently undergoing renovations and from what I understand will re-open in the near future.

Fun place, check them out here.

Citizen’s Burger

A tasty burger and a beer are life’s essential liberties.

Citizen’s Burger in Clarendon a classic American burger joint with a pulse and a palate.

The most difficult choice is pink or no pink, the rest is gravy on top.

Enjoy in Clarendon, Citizen’s Burger.
